What God Wants

Mark nodded and looked at the dog's neck, making his collar appear.

John sat up straighter, startled. "How'd he do that?"

"Told you, he can make stuff appear." Sam said.

John scowled, confused. "What.."
"If you ask what he is, I'm going to shoot you between the eyes." Dean muttered. "He's Mark. He's our son, and your grandson. He just happens to be half demon."

"And he's a good kid, smart, funny, nice. That's what matters. Not what his blood is like." Sam added.

John scowled a little deeper. "If he's… Biologically both of yours, which I'm willing to believe, I've seen weirder sh--crap… How is he half demon? Last time I checked you boys were human when your mom gave birth to you."

"I drank enough demon blood." Sam said. "Had to, or it wouldn't have worked."

"I'm sorry, you drank demon blood?"

"Yeah, I was addicted to the stuff for a while, too, when I was dating the demon who betrayed me."

"I'm sorry… Are… I'm not getting this… What?"

"It's a good high and it made me powerful enough to exercise demons without the words and without hurting the vessel."

"Why the hell did you even start drinking demon blood?! Are you insane?!"

"Ruby told me it would make me strong and I wanted to help people without hurting them."

"You let him do this?!" He snapped at Dean.

"Dad, we're adults now, he let up a bit on the always watch for Sammy thing. And I didn't want him to know, I hid it."

"How could you hide it?!"
"Because I was in Hell!" Dean snapped. "I left him all alone and spent forty years in Hell. He went to Ruby for support when I couldn't be there for him."

"You went to hell so I wouldn't die." Sam said, taking Dean's hand. "Did it to save me and I got hooked on blood instead."

"I should've been there for you." He whispered. "I should have found a way to beat the hellhounds, and when I came back I should have noticed. I should have helped you instead of pushing you away." Dean argued back.

Sam shook his head and hugged Dean tightly. "Just... Shut up. You gave your life for me and I didn't live up to that."

Dean smiled a little, returning the hug. "You did, Sam. Look at how far we've come... What you helped bring into the world, out little boy. You have lived up to it."

"Love you." He whispered.

"I love you too, Sammy." He whispered.

John looked over at Bobby. "Do you get used to them being like this?"

Bobby smiled almost proudly at the boys. "Yeah. It was pretty easy to get used to, a nice relief from their fighting. It'll take a while to get used to hearing them have sex though. I still have to remind 'em to keep it down sometimes."

Sam blushed darkly. "Sometimes we just forget."
